People often ask me if I believe in the law of attraction.  That’s like asking me if I believe that my car runs.  The law of attraction is a simple and powerful function of the human spirit.  The type of thought we carry attracts a similar person thinking a similar type of thought.

If you think quickly. People who think quickly will talk to you.

If you think heavily People who think heavily will talk to you.

If you think about Ferraris, People who think about Ferraris will talk to you.

Whatever you picture yourself having, you will find.

Whatever you believe yourself having, you will have.

The key component to law of Attraction is belief.  If you understand the relationship between thought and belief, you will understand the law of attraction.

You don’t attract the things that you think about.  You attract the things that you believe about.

So what is the difference?  What is belief?  What is thought?

Belief is the reason why I often say “spirit” instead of “mind”

The word “spirit” to me connotes the entire nervous system whereas the mind to me connotes only one part of the nervous system.

It is rote to say “how you THINK” is how you are but this is not really true. How you are is more than thought.  It is a set of all of the neural activity in your system.  Thought is a higher function.  But the entire “spirit” or nervous system moves from lower functions to higher functions.

Thoughts do not happen in isolation from the rest of the nervous system.  Thoughts are heavily influenced by beliefs.

What are beliefs then?  Beliefs are deeply held opinions.  You do not think a belief.  Beliefs simply weigh their opinion against what you think.

So if you think something that runs against your beliefs, your beliefs will color “HOW” you are thinking the thought.

Example #1:

  1. I want a Ferrari, but don’t believe I can have a ferrari.
  2. I want a Ferrari.  I believe I can have one today.

In both instances,  a person is “thinking” about a Ferrari. But there is only one instance in which a person will actually get near a Ferrari or get in one or possibly own one.

Example #2:

  1. I can go to the store and buy a bar of gold.
  2. I can go the store and buy a loaf of bread.

One thing is so ordinary and so common place that one does not even question their belief in it. The other is out of the ordinary and seems improbable at best.

One thing is something a person does at least every week. Or at least sees the bread there every time they go to the store. The other is not common much at all.

Costco, however recently has begun selling gold bars over the counter at their stores. You can in fact go to the store in America and buy a bar of gold. We just don’t think of it or do we really believe it because it is not commonplace to us.

Belief does not have to be magic. It does not have to be emotional. It has to be familiar. If something seems outlandish or out of reach. Your job is to make yourself believe in that thing until it is as accessible and familiar to you as the bread isle in every super market in every town in America.

Belief is essential to attraction.  So is thinking of the mind as part of the spirit rather than believing only in the mind.
